in 2023, the dr. michael j. welch foundation issued a challenge to lab teams across the radiopharmaceutical sciences community: produce two short videos: one articulating a lab's vision for the future of the field to a scientific audience, and one communicating the public health significance of that research to a non-specialist investor audience.
the jason lewis laboratory at memorial sloan kettering cancer center accepted the challenge. the two videos required translating the same body of research across two audiences with fundamentally different levels of scientific literacy and stakes in the outcome.
the submission placed first among 15+ submissions, receiving the top prize of $15,000 USD. both videos were subsequently adopted by the foundation for ongoing public outreach and investor education efforts.
